How to play

  1. You get a country's name, like Italy or Norway.
  2. Draw its outline on the map paper with your finger or mouse. Each line closes itself when you lift up, so you can add islands as separate pieces. Undo and Clear fix mistakes.
  3. Press Done. Your shape is laid over the real outline, and you see how much of it overlaps.
  4. The closer the match, the more points, up to 1,000 a country. Size and position don't matter, only the shape.

Ways to play

Daily

Five countries, the same for everyone, from famous shapes to harder ones. New every midnight Eastern time.

Free play and past days (Premium)

Five countries at a time from all 124, and every earlier daily.

Tips

  • Get the overall proportions right first: is it tall and thin, or wide?
  • Big islands count. Remember Sicily, Tasmania or Hokkaido.
  • Don't worry about tiny wiggles in the coastline. The big bumps and bays matter most.

Questions

How is my drawing scored?

Your shape and the real one are centred and scaled to the same size, then compared by how much they overlap. A careful sketch scores near 1,000; a plain oval scores very little.

Which countries are in it?

124 countries with recognisable shapes, from Italy and Chile to Laos and Paraguay. Countries made of scattered islands and very round ones are left out.

Is it free?

The daily is free every day, in your browser on phone, tablet or computer. FunFuel Premium ($3.99 once) adds free play and past days.
