This policy explains what information FunFuel (funfuel.io) collects when you play, how it is used, and the choices you have. FunFuel is run by an individual developer in Canada. If you have questions, email hello@funfuel.io.
Your scores, settings, game progress and daily results are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not sent to us unless you use the leaderboards or Online VS described below. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
If you choose to join the leaderboards, we store:
Nicknames and scores are shown publicly on the leaderboards. To stop abuse, we briefly record a one-way hash of your IP address with the time of each request. These records are deleted automatically, normally within a few hours. We do not ask for your email address, real name or location.
When you create or join a lobby, the name you enter, your score and your progress in each round are shared with the other players in that lobby. Lobbies that have been inactive for 12 hours are deleted automatically, along with their players' names and scores.
If you play Word Vault, Play The Daily or Long Shot as a Discord Activity, Discord asks your permission to share your basic Discord profile (the identify permission). We use it only to show your display name in the game and to post your result in the channel you played in. Specifically:
Discord's own handling of your information is covered by Discord's privacy policy.
FunFuel is free and is supported by ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads and to measure how they perform. These may be based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, through Google's consent message. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy & cookie choices button below, or from ⚙️ Settings and the "Cookie choices" link at the bottom of the home page (they appear wherever the message applies).
If you send an idea, suggest a Long Shot answer or post a game request, we store what you wrote and the name you typed (if any). Game requests show on the public request board only after we've checked them. When you vote on a request, we store your vote with your leaderboard nickname if you're signed in, or otherwise with a random number made by your browser for this purpose. It isn't linked to anything else about you.
On phones and tablets, the keyboard in our games has a microphone key. Voice typing only starts when you tap it, and your browser asks first before it can use your microphone. The words are recognised by your browser's own speech service (for example Apple in Safari, Google in Chrome), which may send the audio to that company to turn it into text. FunFuel only receives the words typed into the answer box, the same as if you had typed them. We never record, receive or store any audio.
FunFuel is made for a general audience. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the leaderboards and Online VS only use nicknames, not real names or contact details. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact us and we will remove it.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
